Keywords: effectiveness, Song, Listening skill, Music, Singer Listening is one important skill in learning foreign language. Because listening is a skill that is considered difficult to master, it needs more attention and concentration to comprehend the sounds (listening material). Thus, it can be concluded that listening carefully is a process to start learning. Equally, without a good skill in listening, students cannot understand with the topic of the material. Furthermore cannot understand many lessons. This research, entitled?The effectiveness of using song to increase students? listening skill at the second year students of SMK N I Ambal in the academic year of 2012/2013? is aimed to find how effective of song in increasing the students? listening skill for the second year students?. The population of this research is the second year students? of SMK N I Ambal in the academic year 2012/2013 as the research subject. The writer uses population research technique because of limited time and number of samples. The writer took two classes for 66 students as the sample. In addition, the writer collected the data by using an achievements test and observation. The writer then analyzed the data stastically by using t-test. The result of the thesis shows that the mean of control group for the pretest is 62.85 from the total score 2074 and the post-test is 71.76 from the total score 2368, while the mean of experimental group for the pre-test is 66.09 from the total score 2181 and the post-test is 83.39 from the total score 2752. The result of analysis indicates that in teaching listening using song was effective to make the students increase their listening skill. It proved by the computation that value of t-test is 7.13. This value shows that there is significant difference because the tobtained is higher than t-table 7.13>2.042 It means Ho is rejected whereas Ha is accepted.
