Pronunciation Ability And Their Speaking Ability Of The Students In The Third Semester Of English Department In Muhammadiyah University Of Purworejo In The Academic Year 2012/201. A Thesis. Faculty of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences. Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo. 2012. Consultant: Semi Sukarni, M. Pd. In this research, the researcher would like to know whether there is correlation between students? English pronunciation ability and students? English speaking ability at the third semester of English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo or not. The research design of this study is using quantitative approach while the design of this research is correlation descriptive design. The population of this research is the students of the third semester of English Department of UMP. The total number is 240 students. The sample that is taken is F class with 30 students by using purposive sampling technique. The result of this research shows that the correlation between the students? Pronunciation ability and students? English Speaking ability at the third semester of English Department of UMP is high. It is proven from the result of correlation coefficient product moment shows that observed r (0.636), it is includes to the table interpretation between 0.600 till with 0.800 in the level of high interpretation. Then, the hypothesis which states there is significant correlation between students? English pronunciation ability and students? English speaking ability in the third semester of English Department of UMP is accepted in the level of high interpretation. Key Words: English Pronunciation Ability, Speaking Ability
