TOEIC has been used as a way to measure the students? English mastery. There are two section in TOEIC namely listening and reading. Reading has a lot of factors to be tested and one of then is vocab. Vocab will be divided into some parts; one of them is affixes. Affix is still divided by three groups of materials; they are prefix, infix, and suffix. The prefix is a word element placed in front of the root, which changes the word's meaning or makes a new word. Infix is a word element placed in the middle of the root, which changes the word?s meaning or makes a new word. A suffix is a word element placed after the root, which changes the word's meaning as well as its function. It can be helpful to know some of these roots of English vocabulary. It may be possible to guess the meaning of an unknown word when one knows the meaning of its root. Knowing prefixes and suffixes can also help. This study is concerned about the correlation between the prefix-suffix mastery toward students? reading score in TOEIC test. The observation that is applied in the University of Muhammadiyah Purworejo has a purpose to measure whether there is correlation between prefix-suffix mastery and their reading score in TOEIC test. To cultivate the data, the writer uses manual data and SPSS version 13 for windows. The result of this thesis is that there is positive correlation between students? prefix-suffix mastery and their reading score in TOEIC test. It can be seen from the observation that the computation shows r obtained is higher than r table (ro > rt) that is 0.467>0.244. Finally, it can be said that those two variables are correlated. Based on the writer?s findings on their research there are three findings. First, the students? level of prefix ? suffix mastery is good. Second, the means of students? reading comprehension score is 372,11. Third, there is a positive correlation between a students? prefix-suffix mastery and their reading comprehension on TOEIC test. From the amount of sample (N=64) and the level significant 5 percent the value of r product moment (ro) is 0,467 and the value rtable (rt) is 0,244. The computation shows that robtained (ro) is higher than rtable (rt) (0,467>0,244) and it is categorized as a fair correlation.
